Rule of Law

The rule of law is the principle of governance in which all persons, including the government, are accountable to laws that are publicly known, equally applied and independently adjudicated, and which are consistent with international human rights. Justice Base promotes the principles of equality before the law, accountability to the law, fairness in the application of the law, separation of powers, participation

in decision making and government transparency. Access to justice is a key part of rule of law. All people should have equal access, without discrimination, to impartial justice services, independent legal advice and documentation concerning their legal rights. By engaging participants in training and mentoring, and undertaking research, Justice Base is committed to strengthening the rule of law in Myanmar.
